About My Films

As a filmmaker I see myself as an explorer. When I first started making documentaries I made a short film about my cousin. I was drawn to understanding what it's like to live life with a rare genetic disorder. For me making documentaries is like being an explorer. I start every project with a question, and my documentaries are my map to the discovery. I love the organic nature of documentaries.Just like the world, documentaries are ever changing; so it's exciting to see films evolve as change as time passes.

I'm also drawn to fiction films and particularly screenwriting. And I would love to create projects that blend both fiction and non-fiction films to tell compelling stories.

Why did Donald Trump win the election this year? It's all thanks to rural American voters. Rural takes you into the heart of small town USA and explores the lives and culture of rural American voters, to better understand why they voted the way they did.

This film premiered at DocYourWorld 2017 at Columbia College Chicago. The film has also won the Bronze Award at the Spotlight Documentary Film Awards and was an official selection at the Adirondack Film Festival in New York.

Perfect Imperfections  Documentary
Location  Sound

Everybody at one point in their life has struggled with negative body image. Perfect Imperfections asks one tough question "are you happy with your body?" This documentary sparks some great conversations on a very tough subject.

I was location sound for this project, so I was in charge of ensuring we had clean and crisp audio.

Kenna
Documentary
Producer/Director/Editor

Imagine your world is dark and void of sound, yet somehow you're the happiest person in the world. That's my cousin Kenna and this is a film about her. This short documentary explores the world of Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorders and how despite being affected by this disease my cousin finds ways to spread happiness to everyone she touches.

I directed and produced this short documentary for my foundations class at Columbia College.

OUT
Experimental Documentary
Writer/Director/Editor

How do you come out? This short experimental film tries to answer that question. It's a personal film that reflects my own struggle to come out. The process is dark and confusing, thus I wanted to portray the darkness and emptiness one feels while they are coming out.

I created this experimental documentary for a class at Columbia College.

When Bill is suddenly hit by a car and is rushed to the hospital in critical condition his chance of survival looks bleak. That is until he conjures up his inner warrior and walks out of the hospital a few days later. Thus inspiring his step daughter to discover her own inner warrior strength.

This short documentary was inspired by friend Abby and her step dad Bill. It explores the concept that everyone can overcome anything.

My Friend Bob
Short Narrative
Writer/Director/Editor

What could possibly go wrong when you take your imaginary friend to college with you? Let's just say a lot of things. My Friend Bob is a quirky tale of a freshman who's been holding onto his imaginary friend a little bit too long. He quickly learns that college isn't the place to play pretend.

This short film was produced in partnership with the University of Texas at Austin's Digital StoryTelling Seminar. I was one of 5 selected directors chosen to make a film.
